On December 27, 2022, the European Regulation on digital operational resilience for the financial sector was published. It entered into force on January 17, 2023 and will apply as of January 17, 2025. In this session we will discuss what the implications of this legislation for South Africa.

Whilst at the helm of the company it won numerous prestigious awards including being inducted into the Global Business Continuity Institute (BCI) Hall of Fame after winning the Continuity and Resilience Provider award for Africa for 3 consecutive years. Michael’s current focus is to help organisations integrate strategy, risk and resilience to remain effective and sustainable in times of great uncertainty and accelerating

    Rianné is a Chartered Accountant (SA) and Compliance Professional (SA). During
    her 27-year career in banking she filled various senior management roles in
    business, finance, risk management, internal audit and compliance.
    She ran her own compliance consulting firm for 8 years before being appointed
    as the CEO of the Compliance Institute Southern Africa in July 2018. She is also
    the Chair of the International Federation of Compliance Associations (IFCA).
    She is passionate about compliance and ensuring that the compliance
    profession is positioned as a strategic business partner, an independent
    assurance provider and what it means to be the ‘C’ in GRC.
    She became a Chartered Accountant at the age of 41 and lives by her personal motto ‘It is never too late to have a happy childhood (or a new career).
